Maine Coast Semester at Chewonki

I did a Human Ecology Capstone class at MCS (Maine Coast Semester) at Chewonki. In that we learned about the intersections between human and natural systems.
Capstone Portfolio
As part of that we wrote ten Artifact Statements that detailed a significant expirience we had through the lense of all the Goal For Graduates that Chewonki lays out for us.

We needed to talk about how the Artifact was created and how it relates to us. Then we to discuss how the Artifact relates to the Goal for Graduate that we thought it fit best under, and then under each Goal for Graduates there are sub-categories of Head, Heart, or Hands and we needed to detail how our Artifact related to that too. Finally we needed to connect our Artifact to Human Ecology.
Community Profile
During the final week at MCS at Chewonki we talked a lot about reintegrating into our home communities. Part of that was creating a presentation about what our home community was like. We needed to do broad research on the demographics of our area and then talk about various human and natural systems that were there. Finally we had to hone in on one connection between the human and natural systems that were there.

I chose to focus on my town: Rockland ME and discussed issues of gentrification, elitism, flooding and rising sea levels. You can view my slides for a more detailed description.
