Art for Divest Maine: A Synthesis of Art and Activism

Project Type

Painting

Date

May 3 - June 4 2024

Materials

Old nightgowns, scrap wood, acrylic paint

Location

Steel House 369 Main St, Rockland Maine

Project type

Four panel painting

In this project I worked with a group called Divest Maine and my school (the Watershed School) to create a four panel painting made from my night gowns and scrap wood. It depicted the consequences of remaining invested in fossil fuels and was aimed at a government institution of Maine that manages the pension funds for public servants. This piece was part of a greater exhibit that commemorated the closing of the Watershed School and the legacy of activism and independent projects it left behind.
